Sunnies are a must to protect your eyes from the harsh Australian sun. There are so many different sunglasses on the market, so it’s not that easy to choose the best sunglasses for you. It’s hard to know whether a certain style suits you. While you’ll always have your own taste and style, there are other factors that come into play. While colour and fashion matter, face shape has to be the most important factor when choosing which sunglasses suit you best.

Measure Your Face

What face shape are you? That’s a question that’s always asked when choosing the best sunglasses for you. We’ve actually found that most people are quite unsure of their face shape. But, by measuring your face you’ll get an idea of what shape your face is. Be sure to use a flexible tape measure, and look in the mirror when you do it. Also, grab a notepad to write down your measurements.

Jaw: Firstly, measure your jawline. Measure from just below your ear lobes to the tip of your chin, then multiply this number by 2.

Forehead: Next, take a tape measure to your forehead. Measure halfway between your hairline and eyebrows, or the widest part of your forehead.

Length: You’ll also need to know if you have a long or short face. Run a tape measure from the centre of your hairline, over your nose, to the tip of your chin.

Cheekbones: Finally, you’ll need to measure your cheekbones. Place the end of a tape measure just below your eye. Start at the outer corner of one eye and measure to the same point on the other side of your face.

Find Your Face Shape

Round:

To find out if you have a round face, you’ll find that your cheekbones and face length have a similar measurement. They’ll be larger than the forehead and jawline too. Furthermore, the forehead and jawline measurements will be similar in length to each other too. And the jaw itself will be less defined.

Square: For a square face shape, All of the measurements that you’ve taken are quite similar. But the angle of the jaw is typically sharp rather than rounded

Oval: An oval face has a greater length than the width of the cheekbones, and the forehead is larger than the jawline. Furthermore, the angle of the jaw is rounded, not sharp.

Rectangle: A rectangle or oblong-shaped face will be the greatest in length, while the forehead, cheekbones, and jawline are similar in size.

Diamond:

Just like a rectangular face shape, the diamond face will also be the largest in length. The difference is that the other measurements will be less in descending order. That is, the face length is the greatest, followed by the cheekbones, then the forehead, and finally the jaw. So the jaw is the smallest measurement, and the chin is typically pointed.

Heart: If your face is heart-shaped, the forehead will be greater in length than the cheekbones and jawline. But the cheekbones and jawline will be similar in length to each other. Your face will be a little longer than the width and the chin is usually pointed.
