Yummy hazelnut truffles are enjoyed as a Christmas dessert or a snack all year long. They’re so simple to make and they taste amazing. And as an added bonus, if you have lots cooking at Christmas time, this is a no-bake dessert!

If you don’t like chocolate sprinkles, you could coat the truffles in hundreds and thousands, or desiccated coconut. You could even coat them in a chocolate powder or crushes nuts.
There’s always a way to make desserts healthier too. For example, we use a light cream instead of a full-fat cream. And, we often swap out the sugar with some naturally sweet products instead.
According to Australian Eggs, when desserts contain raw eggs such as this hazelnut truffle, you should separate the egg whites and egg yolks with an egg separator to avoid contaminating the egg with shells and Salmonella that might be on the shell. They also say that you should eat desserts that contain raw eggs within one day. Furthermore, you should refrigerate these desserts immediately. So, when you prepare hazelnut truffles as one of your Christmas Desserts, don’t make them more than a day in advance.
If you need to prepare further ahead, why not consider powdered egg whites? They’re dried egg whites that can be used in desserts by mixing the powder with water. Because it is pasteurized it’s a safer alternative to using raw egg whites.
