You are going to love making these delicious crumpets. This crumpets recipe is so simple but very yummy. You’ll only need six ingredients and they’re common ingredients that you’ll probably already have in your cupboard.
What do you like to put on your crumpets? We think that there’s nothing better than a warm, toasted crumpet, dripping in butter and honey, on a cold winter’s morning. It’s especially satisfying when the crumpet has lots of holes to absorb the honey and butter. Did you know that the holes in the crumpets are caused by the heat of the pan expanding the bubbles in the batter, and steam caused by the heat pushes the bubbles up to the top?
If you don’t like honey, crumpets also taste nice with jam and cream, just butter, golden syrup, or lemon butter. Whatever you choose to spread onto your crumpets, pop them in the toaster beforehand. It crisps them up and gives them a great texture.
Crumpets should not be too well browned as they are usually toasted in a toaster before serving. With that in mind, be sure not to overcook them on the pan.
While you could try to make this crumpets recipe with egg rings, they’re a little shallow. We find that using actual crumpet rings works much better, creating the right thickness. You can search for styles of non-stick crumpet rings online.
