Add Extra Vegetables

If you’re aiming to enhance the nutritional content of this recipe, consider incorporating extra vegetables into the stir-fry. Broccolini, sliced onions, and green beans would make excellent additions to elevate the flavors and nutritional profile of this dish.

Substituting Ingredients

If you have an aversion to peanuts or suffer from allergies, you might want to consider replacing the peanut butter with an alternative nut butter, such as cashew nut butter. While this alteration does introduce a different flavor to the recipe, it remains exceptionally delicious with an alternative nut. For those looking to steer clear of nuts entirely, a great substitution could be sesame paste or tahini.

Reducing the Spice Level

I absolutely adore spicy foods, and I find the spice level of the chicken noodle stir-fry to be absolutely perfect. However, I’m aware that many of you may prefer a milder level of spice. This dish is designed to have a kick with the addition of chili flakes and gochujang paste. While the gochujang paste is crucial for achieving the flavor balance of the sauce, feel free to omit the chili flakes if the heat is too much for your taste buds!

How to Reduce the Sodium Content

You can easily enhance the health profile of your spicy chicken noodle stir-fry by incorporating small adjustments. According to Dietitians Australia, a common dietary issue is excessive salt consumption. Making simple changes to reduce your sodium intake can be impactful. Opt for salt-reduced soy sauce, unsalted peanut butter, and salt-reduced liquid stock to considerably diminish the sodium content in this flavourful meal.

Choose Healthy Fats

Many individuals aim to lower the caloric content of their meals in order to attain and maintain a healthy weight. Fats, given their considerably higher calorie count per gram compared to carbohydrates and proteins, play a crucial role in this effort. However, it is essential to note that not all fats are detrimental to your health. Opting for unsaturated fats and minimizing your intake of saturated fats can diminish the likelihood of developing certain diseases. When incorporating oil into your meals, consider healthier options such as extra virgin olive oil or canola oil.
